ASSIGNMENT PART ONE...

Every DBS student has been given an assignment for Management Information System subject. This kind of assignment is really tough for me. It is because I not good at comparing a thing. Especially computer, I don’t have any basic at buying a computer. Even though I have to compare a thing not just computer before buying it. Such as, when I want to buy a shoe. I have to compare the price and quality with other shoe shop that sell the same design. Same goes here, whereby I have to make the right decision before buying it. This assignment also has added my knowledge because it helps me know the latest model and version of computer hardware and software.

Besides that, the main reason why this assignment is hard is because we all now live far away from city. We have to travel miles away to get to the city. If we want to go to the city we have to spend about RM10. Coincidently, at that time PC Fair is being running. So, we manage to collect many pamphlet and flier regarding about the computer hardware and software. But the thing is all the pamphlet and flier stated about the laptop, notebook and desktop. Just a few of the pamphlet and flier concerning about the printer and scanner. So, we have to find the printer and scanner by our own.

The problem is where we can find it. We enter many shopping complex and computer shop but it also hard to find it. I think when I get back to Kuala Lumpur, it’s easier for me. But, it’s not. At the end, I decide to do this assignment guide by what I’ve got.

Luckily I finish this assignment.

TWISTED PAIR WIRE

Twisted pair cabling is a form of wiring in which two conductors (the forward and return conductors of a single circuit) are twisted together for the purposes of canceling out electromagnetic interference (EMI) from external sources; for instance, electromagnetic radiation from Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP) cables, and crosstalk between neighboring pairs.

In balanced pair operation, the two wires carry equal and opposite signals and the destination detects the difference between the two. This is known as differential mode transmission. Noise sources introduce signals into the wires by coupling of electric or magnetic fields and tend to couple to both wires equally. The noise thus produces a common-mode signal which is cancelled at the receiver when the difference signal is taken. This method starts to fail when the noise source is close to the signal wires; the closer wire will couple with the noise more strongly and the common-mode rejection of the receiver will fail to eliminate it. This problem is especially apparent in telecommunication cables where pairs in the same cable lie next to each other for many miles. One pair can induce crosstalk in another and it is additive along the length of the cable. Twisting the pairs counters this effect as on each half twist the wire nearest to the noise-source is exchanged. Providing the interfering source remains uniform, or nearly so, over the distance of a single twist, the induced noise will remain common-mode. Differential signaling also reduces electromagnetic radiation from the cable, along with the atenuation that it causes.
The twist rate (also called pitch of the twist, usually defined in twists per meter) makes up part of the specification for a given type of cable. Where nearby pairs hav
e equal twist rates, the same conductors of the different pairs may repeatedly lie next to each other, partially undoing the benefits of differential mode. For this reason it is commonly specified that, at least for cables containing small numbers of pairs, the twist rates must differ. In contrast to FTP (foiled twisted pair) and STP (shielded twisted pair) cabling, UTP (unshielded twisted pair) cable is not surrounded by any shielding. It is the primary wire type for telephone usage and is very common for conputer networking, especially as patch cables or temporary network connections due to the high flexibility of the cables.

ADVANTAGES...

  • It is a thin, flexible cable that is easy to string between walls.
  • Because UTP is small, it does not quickly fill up wiring ducts.
  • UTP costs less per meter/foot than any other type of LAN cable.
DISADVANTAGES...
  • Twisted pair’s susceptibility to the electromagnetic interference greatly depends on the pair twisting schemes (usually patented by the manufacturers) staying intact during the installation. As a result, twisted pair cables usually have stringent requirements for maximum pulling tension as well as minimum bend radius. This relative fragility of twisted pair cables makes the installation practices an important part of ensuring the cable’s performance.

  • In video applications that send information across multiple parallel signal wires, twisted pair cabling can introduce signaling delays known as skew which results in subtle color defects and ghosting due to the image components not aligning correctly when recombined in the display device. The skew occurs because twisted pairs within the same cable often use a different number of twists per meter so as to prevent common-mode crosstalk between pairs with identical numbers of twists. The skew can be compensated by varying the length of pairs in the termination box, so as to introduce delay lines that take up the slack between shorter and longer pairs, though the precise lengths required are difficult to calculate and vary depending on the overall cable length.

5 TIPS FOR CHOOSING YOUR WEDDING RING

1. Remember the four Cs: carat weight, cut, clarity and colour when evaluating a diamond, but don’t assume that, just because you’re spending a lot of money, this is anything other than an emotional investment.

2. Don’t get too hung up on a specific carat weight. Because there is a leap in price between a stone that weighs 0.9 of a carat and a one-carat stone. If you’re going for a three-stone wedding ring, for example, choose an 0.8 carat stone flanked by two 0.4 carat stones: it will be considerably cheaper than a one-carat flanked by two halves

3. Be as extravagant as you want, but consider practicality, you will wear this every day for the rest of your life.

4. Ask if the retailer subscribes to the Kimberley Process, which should eliminate any conflict diamonds. If you are going to spend a substantial amount of money on your diamond rings, go for certified diamonds for better investment value.

5. ‘Always go for the biggest you can afford. Some ladies worry about a diamond being too flashy as it is often their first piece of proper jewellery. But everything shrinks with age and they will soon get very used to it, and might regret not going for the bigger one in the first place.’
